Since I got back from China I really never got the chance to tell my friends about my hometown. Shantou, China. During the weeks when I was in China tropical storms flooded Florida (where I live currently) but that was ironic because when I left Beijing floods hit there. But what was truly amazing was that I got to see my grandma. The last time I went to my hometown was in 06 I couldn’t really remember the true beauty in my city. Some reason when I got back from china in 2006 every year I kept asking my mom, “When are we going back to Shantou?” and finally this year I got to come back.  But sadly in the year 2010 my Grandma injured something in her brain and she couldn’t talk. Right when we heard that happen we wanted to go to shantou as soon as possible, but sadly my mom got struck with breast cancer. We felt like the sky was falling because now we cannot afford to go back, so we waited. Our Grandma seriously was a great person. Every year since we left Grandma said, “I’m waiting for you, I’m not leaving unless I see you one last time.” But since my mom had breast cancer she wanted to go to Shantou no matter the cost. So we finally went and when we got to shantou we went to see my Grandma. She had just gotten out of the emergency room a couple weeks ago and it turns out that the right half of her body was paralyzed and when we got there tears were falling out of me and my brothers eyes. She kept pointing to me she saw how much I grew. I told her that I was 15 now she was crying also she couldn’t believe how much I grew. I saw how much pain she was in but we finally made it she was happy we came. But today 7/27/2012 my uncle called my mom telling her that my Grandma had passed away in her sleep. She left exactly a week after we came back. You’re in a better place now, rest in peace Grandma. You will be missed.
